Photographers 'Strike a Pose'!

Something a bit fun for you today!  So normally we would focus on in front of the camera.  How to look amazing on your wedding day; how to relax in front of the camera. But many things go on behind the scenes too and some of the best poses can be found not by the models, but by the photographers themselves, who get into all sorts of positions to capture 'The Shot'!

Today we bring you behind the scenes at Worton Park.   Hopefully you will have already seen some of the beautiful images captured from our styled shoots:  Enchanting Nature, Nuts about Neon, Contemporary Romance the Under water 'Trash the Dress' shoot and coming soon Gothic Vintage...  But how did the photographers go about capturing such amazing images?... well lets see...

Firstly there were the standing shots:

Then there were the crouching shots...
Moving on to Sitting...

Closely followed by kneeling...

Which then turned into lying down on the job...

And we must not forget the high in the balancing on a step ladder shots...

Being a Professional photographer is much more than just a 'point and click' it's about finding amazing angles and capturing a 'moment in time'... which is why sometimes you might even have to get a little bit wet...

Thank you so much to all the awesome photographers who went the extra mile for the shoot:  Jay Mountford Photography, Frank Millar Photography, Wendy Grant Photography and Gentle Visions Photography, and of course to  Pho2U! (Black & White) & Nigel Crump Photography (Colour) for capturing these amazing behind the scenes images!

Have a wonderful weekend.  Sue xx

No Monkeying Around at this Gorgeous Wedding

This week's 'A Week in the life of...' we will be focusing on Pho2U!  Based in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, Lewis Duncan is a full time professional photographer capuring everything from Weddings to Family portraits.  Today we bring you an insight into his first ever wedding shoot back in 2009; a brave move for a now established photographer but I think you'll agree it was definitely worth sharing. Anyone fancy a trip to the Zoo?...

"They knew I was new to the business but gave me the opportunity as they were on a very tight budget, which like most of my clients, I worked around their requirements.

So, it was a beautiful sunny day and I set off to the bride’s house where she was getting ready. The bride seemed nervous of what was ahead on her day, but I turned up with a big smile on my face ready to snap away! She was not forthcoming with having her photo taken so I put my camera down for 5 mins and made a cup of tea for everyone and just had a general chit chat with the bride and her guests around her, this was the ice breaker moment... she was at ease – which is what I need to capture those amazing moments throughout the day.

The bride had two gorgeous kids, who seemed shy but as always, I worked my charm and got them posing some great shots, which they enjoyed doing!

At the venue, Whipsnade Zoo, the groom was nervously waiting (well I think he was nervous about the day, but it may have just been the great elephants marching towards him!!), he had a shifty brandy with the boys to calm his nerves!

So, the Groom was ready, the Bride waiting anxiously to go in and meet her husband to be to finally get married... and who was there? The photographer of cause, capturing ALL moments throughout the day!"

Thank you Lewis for sharing... tomorrow it's all about the Soldiers!

Enchanting Romance created by Elly Mac Photos

Elly Mac Photos were a finalist in our recent 'Photograph of the Year' competition and I absolutely adored their entries - I asked to see more of the Wedding and it was no surprise that I loved all of them too, so much so, that I had to share them with you...

The Wedding
Danny and Dylan were married on October 1st 2011, the hottest day in London, in Putney right on the river Thames. “We didn’t want a big formal wedding and we didn’t want the sort of off-the-peg wedding we saw on offer in all the hotels,”  “We kept everything simple and relaxed and organised it all in about three or four months.  We were so happy with how laid back and informal it was on the day.  Everyone told us organising a wedding is the most stressful thing you can do, but if that’s the case they’re doing it wrong! We enjoyed every minute of it and had a fantastic day.  We knew that all we had to do was get all our friends and family together in one place and we’d have a brilliant time.”

“We hired our photographer because she was amazing and fun, my advice choose a photographer who is relaxed, professional and has the same vision as you do for your day,” Danny said. “Elly enhanced our day and really captured the essence of us and our wedding. The ideas she had for our wedding were exactly what she created.”

& here are the photos...

So who is Elly Mac Photos?
Based in Battersea London, Elly Mac Photos provides photographic services to clients across Europe and the United Kingdom.  My photography style can be described as photo journalistic with an artistic edge.  I am inspired by many things but at the moment my work is very much influenced by vintage romance, dreamy hues and is all about meshing elements of traditional photography and the spontaneity of photo journalism with a touch of the whimsical and the girly. Fun, fresh and humorous.  I  adore wedding imagery from the 1900s through to the 1960s before wedding photography was common place and before the rules of wedding photography became ingrained in our cultural mindset. Elly Mac Photos is ideal for those couples wanting different, sweet, funny and relaxed photography.  You will be pleased to know, that your photos will tell the whole story of your day in a combination of candid, group and detail shots as well as staged group and couple shots that will be a reflection of you as individuals as well as a couple. I can bring along photographic props and extra’s to make your wedding photos fun.
