My brother is getting married in 3 weeks time and I had never realised how the role of the 'Sister of the Groom' is always overlooked but very difficult to get 'just right'.
At my own wedding last year I couldn't understand why my sister-in-law struggled to find an outfit. She is a stunning woman and I couldn't grasp why any dress wouldn't be perfect on her. But now as I'm going through it myself I completely understand. Firstly, if you are not a Bridesmaid you have to consider the colour scheme. You don't want to choose a dress in those colours but you also need to make sure you compliment it for the photos. You don't want to be in the same style as the bridesmaids but you again want to compliment them. You also can't really be in the same colour as your mum or the Mother of the Bride so what do you do?
Being the 'Sister of the Groom' you need to blend into the background but still look like you are part of the Wedding Party. Well so far I have bought 3 dresses and have finally decided on an oriental style grey dress. I decided to match the Bridesmaids shoes as they are grey. I then needed to complete my outfit and I am very fortunate to be working with some wonderfully talented ladies, so once I'd decided on shoes, I knew who to contact for my accessories.
