Who is The Cake Whisk?
I am a cake designer based at home in Rochdale, covering most of the North West. I have been making cakes for getting on 30 years, initially going to college. It’s important for me to keep up to date, so I continue to develop new skills and ideas all the time. I went to the International Cake show at the NEC a few weeks ago and it was so inspiring. And of course my lovely clients keep things fresh with new and sometimes very challenging design requests. I love meeting with my couples and taking their cake design ideas through to completion – they almost feel like family.
What types of cakes do you offer?
I specialise in fine detail on wedding cakes, especially bringing detail from the brides dress or the wedding stationery onto the cake. I try to have something in the design that can be safely removed from the cake and kept as a keepsake afterwards. Equally I love making wedding cakes that are stunning in their simplicity – which means that the cake has to be flawless to achieve impact.
What is your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement was just a few weeks ago when 3 of my wedding cakes were published in ‘Wedding Cakes – A Design Source” it was so lovely for me to get that level of recognition for my work. Especially as just over a year ago, I suffered a spinal injury and was paralysed for several months. I am well again, and walking and making gorgeous cakes for gorgeous people, so that has been a bit of an achievement too.
What do you have available for Christmas?
I have just launched my Christmas range: Christmas puddings in varying sizes, Christmas cookies, Christmas Cookie trees and some individual Christmas cakes. They will be on the website and on Facebook too.
How can people contact you?

I also take part in several wedding fairs throughout the year – details are posted on my website and Facebook.
What do you love about Christmas?
I love making Christmas dinner for all of my family – sitting down and just being together (all 4 generations!) and enjoying our grandchildren’s enjoyment.
My unsung hero in all of this is Mr Cake Whisk – without him, none of this would be able to happen, so a very special Thank You to Brian.
