Looking for a Quirky Handmade Guest Book? BigFurryCat has the answers! - Day One

This week I am delighted to introduce a fantastic little company based down on the South coast.  If you are looking for quirky gifts or an amazing alternative guest book addition to your big day then you've come to the right place!  I was delighted when BigFurryCat joined Ice the Cake and we now have our very own 'Family' fingerprint tree which is being created at our networking events across the country!  Introducing BigFurryCat...

My name is Anna from BigFurryCat Company.  BigFurryCat developed its name from, you’ve guessed it, a big furry cat!  His name is Ozzy and he measures just under 4 feet long without even stretching.  He weighs 10kg and is incredibly soppy, which is good as he has big teeth and claws!  We decided on the name as it was definitely different and unique and we wanted something that intrigued people.  It works because cat lovers always want to know about him and even dog lovers are kinda interested as he is actually more of a dog than a cat anyway!

BigFurryCat sells all sorts of handmade items and gifts.  Our main seller is our handpainted fingerprint tree guest books for weddings, birthdays and anniversaries.  People always do a bit of a double take at wedding fairs as they realise what they are and we get loads of interest as they are unique and unusual.

I think people are looking for wedding ideas that are different and the handmade aspect is also bang on trend so our fingerprint trees tick all the boxes!  Our fingerprint trees are painted on to a canvas which means they can be hung directly onto a wall at home as a lasting momento of your wedding day.  They are completely personalised to our customer’s specifications from the background colour, to the tree colour, to the writing and embossing colour to the ink pad colours.  This, combined with the fact that each tree is handpainted, makes for a truly unique item.  The idea is that your guests will put their fingerprint on the tree to look like leaves and sign their names then at the end of the day, you can have it hanging on your wall at home.  It is an alternative to a guest book though a guest book can of course be used in conjunction with the fingerprint tree.

We can make them in several different sizes, from the smallest size of 40x30cm which in portrait orientation would suit approx 40 guests whilst landscape would suit approx 70, to the biggest size of canvas which is the 60x60cm which would suit a wedding party of around 200 guests.  We have also made a fingerprint tree for 600 guests on a metre square canvas so no wedding party is too small or too big!!

The embossing on the trunk and branches can be either gold or silver and I have also added glitter for some orders to really make the trees catch the light and stand out.

With each order, you get an instruction card so your guests know what to do, a suitable pen that allows you to write on the canvas, two ink pads in colours of your choosing (you can always order extra colours for a small charge) and a packet of wipes for your guests inky fingers!  The ink is water based so comes off your fingers very easily.

We have also started to introduce other fingerprint designs such as this cupcake design which could be used for a birthday party or a wedding to a couple that LOVE cake (don’t we all?!)

I am also very happy to work with a couple’s own ideas.  Because the trees are handpainted by me, I can be really flexible with their design and style, adding more or less branches as needed or embossing names into the heart or onto the bottom of the page.  You can of course buy other fingerprint designs on the internet but they all seem to be a lot of money for a pdf printout on a bit of paper so I do genuinely believe that our fingerprint trees offer something that little bit special and different.

Tomorrow, we’ll tell you about the coolest clocks you will ever find!!
